The hush of night brings me tidings of joy, Beloved, for once again I can pause in this garden of gratitude and dwell in your wonder and mercy. Beside these still waters my worries quiet and then cease, my fears recede and disappear, my heart drinks its fill and starts to sing with thanksgiving. There is trouble enough, much still to do, work undone and hurts to mend, but still there is this merciful space to let down my burdens, unbend my heart, and attend to the wonderment. Hosanna for such a mercy! Alleluia for the quiet waters! Hosanna for the blessings in this night and in this day!
