Can we laugh when we pray for patience right now? If so, Lover of Life, join us in that laughter, at how we meet up in unexpected and inconvenient ways with our expectations and our judgments. In that meeting we could dissolve in tears of shame or in tears of amusement; lead us, Lover of Life, into bemusement and into the joy that flowers in creativity, in wisdom, and in wonder through all our days. Through drought and through floods, through challenges and through the fallow seasons, may we grow sturdier and steadier in the kind of patience that endures with mercy, with generosity, and with love, day after day.
