Most Merciful and Most Compassionate may we embrace this brokenness and discover therein new gifts, new wisdom. Hate can smash us up, and yet there is, even in all these glittering sharpnesses, shards worthy of reshaping, pieces to become a new whole, a vessel to bear kindness and mercy and overflowing love. All around and in every day we meet violence, cruel and coldly planned, the sanding harsh habitual kind, and the unknown and unintended but still hurtful. May we be changed day by day into better witnesses for love and makers of peace, more mindful and less needful of harsh habits so we might tend instead these greener habits of resilience, wonder, and joy. Amen.

Thank you in particular for that last sentence. I love the phrase - and concept - of "greener habits."
