Blessed indeed are these moments and hours of stillness and rest. When I am restless in them, may I remember how I yearned for them in weariness and pay attention to the attraction of distraction and how easily I may break my faithful promises and fall away. Blessed indeed are these moments and hours of stillness and rest. Grace dances in spaciousness, opened by the choice and discipline of keeping Sabbath, of pursuing honest prayer, of resting in stillness, of balancing solitude and quiet against fretful doing and fervent wanting. Blessed indeed are these moments and hours of stillness and rest. Let wonder come, waking from the dream of rest put into practice. As the day fades and the stars shine, let me laugh in beauty, love in peace, and name the blessings that spark and startle and sustain out of this stillness. Amen.
