Mercy bring a lullabye to those who are restless or in pain and are kept from sleep. Change the hearts of those who this night would inflict pain and sorrow, and turn us back to remembering our better selves, the ones that help and heal and hope and love and are often afraid. Mercy bring a sweet song and good sleep to those in need, a place of safety and dreams worth living. Sustain those who keep watch this night, the protectors and the healers, the parents and the children. We are so very grateful for those we have, for the responsibilities entrusted to us, for the chance to live generously and love boldly now, and every night. Amen.
