Merciful Justice before we rest on false assumptions, in a comfortable bitterness or ennui, before we tune out to what is needful and good and adjust our spirits to only what numbs and brings fleeting and false comfort, give us enough heart and help tonight to choose another way. Open our hearts enough to learn a stranger's story and to share our own. Though we are fearful of being found insufficient, of mockery, and of being turned away and turned down as useless, open the way for us that we may risk faithfully and choose to give the gifts we have. Though we are fearful of needing others and receiving, of being vulnerable, open our hearts enough that we can risk faithfully and appreciate the gifts another has to offer. Merciful Justice, lead us in the way of risking faithfully and risking steadily, night after night and day after day, to create with others, outposts of the heart, places of refuge, and bear healing into this hurting world. Amen.
