Lover of Life, Lover of Meteors and Phenomena and Quanta and Rocks, may we find our way tonight to be steadfast in love, though that steadfastness require sacrifice, though that steadfastness seem to flicker and wink out only to reappear, though that steadfastness follow mysterious elliptical orbits and flame with all the debris anyone who lives whole heartedly bears. May we find our way tonight to offer love in needed and unexpected ways, as well as those needed, expected, and comfortingly familiar. May we find the the courage and the strength to risk faithfully leaning into the sharp and unwelcoming places in order to bring transforming love and hope where despair and misery has declared brutal victory and governs behind suspicions, lies, and its citizens fears. May we who live in such desperate places, whether they are in our hearts or our homes or our lands, may we find a helpers and hope tonight, a burning lamp of love that encourages us and helps us carry on, though that lamp be so very far away, so dim, so flickering. Steadfastness in mercy, in generosity, and in love to all of us, everywhere. May we lean into it and live whole heartedly. Amen.
