Mercy grant us the gracefulness to love in our imperfect ways well enough to bear kindness at home and abroad, to strangers and to kin, to not live for kindnesses shown to us, but to ever be delighted and surprised when we are so blessed. Mercy grant us the gracefulness to love in our imperfect ways well enough that we may learn wisdom from those we would at first, second, and seventieth occasions have dismissed, and not just accept as wisdom that which mirrors our own existing beliefs, knowledge, and ideals. Mercy grant us the gracefulness to love in our imperfect ways well enough that we dwell in thankfulness for life's simple gifts, such as clean water and healthy land, and from that gratitude cherish and protect those gifts to pass on to future generations. Mercy grant us the gracefulness to love in our imperfect ways well enough that every night and every day we risk faithfully and humbly the way of compassion forever. Amen.
