Mercy guide us now and always. Where the fields are flooded and washed away, where the drought persists and all has turned to dust, where war and pestilence have laid waste, where exploitation and cruelty creates despair, where inequity and injustice thrive, Mercy guide us in loving together a more compassionate and just world. Do not let us turn away from disasters with hardened hearts, but remember our neighbors next door and around this world, when the news is fresh and in the long wait and work for recovery that follows. Though mourning is hard, stony heartedness is harder still. Mercy let us weep freely in kindness, and in kindness, turn to what is needed and helps those in need know they are not alone. Mercy guide us now and always, in trouble and in joy, and do not let us forget those whose sorrows are bearing them down even now. Sustain us in being their help from the desert, the floodplains, the mountains, and every place on earth, coming swiftly with open hearts. Amen.
