Beloved, are our hearts to be remade each day? Are we to be glazed with the beauty of mercy and fired in the kiln of love? Let us choose the changes we need to make: to be more forgiving, to be kinder, to settle down for the long haul. Let us choose what is good and what is hopeful out of the changes we must endure: to discover how to share our love when we can no longer speak, to find out how to live generously when we must receive help all the time, to offer encouragement to others when our own courage is still shaky and unsure. Beloved, our hearts are remade each day, challenged to change by our choices and our circumstances. Let us be shaped and colored by the beauty of mercy. Let us be fired in the kiln of transforming love, and be cupbearers of hope. Amen.
