Beloved there are times I lean back upon the heart of compassion and sigh and ask hopefully again, "is it now?" and then a few moments later, "how about now?" I live in hope for generosity and open-heartedness to prevail, for transforming love to change us from unjust retribution to merciful justice, for restoration and healing. Sometimes I lose track of the way being made, and I just need to lean back and whisper again, "how about now?" And then, Beloved, the gift: remembering some piece of goodness wrought by some group of people laboring day in and day out, which leads me to yet another story of love making hope real. Leaning back on the heart of compassion I remember and prepare myself once again to join the many who are engaged in the work of restoration and healing, the labors of transforming retribution to merciful justice, the lovers of life who live in generosity through every word and every deed in every night and every day. Amen.
