Beloved, comfort me, comfort every heart that is restless and wandering tonight, wondering, worrying, or weeping. How can we not worry about those who are struggling tonight, for a safe place to rest, for a warm welcome, for enough to eat, for easing their pain, for finding their place in the world? How can we not wonder about those who feel it is all right for many to suffer, for injustice to be the law of the land, for us to turn away from our faithful promises of generosity, compassion, and abundant love? How can we not weep? Beloved, comfort me, comfort every heart that is restless and wandering tonight, wondering, worrying or weeping. In our open heartedness let us reach out and find one another. As we find one another, may we create together a different way, one where every person belongs and is granted dignity and respect, one where merciful justice is the law of the land, one where we know and cherish one another. As we find one another, may we comfort each other and fulfill our faithful promises together, one heart comforting another, one faithful risk at a time. Amen.
