Beloved, how shy our hearts can be when we most need courage! We know what a gift it is to have help when we need it, so grant us courage lest we balk when asked. We know what a gift it is to be praised for something we have done well, so grant us courage both to keep trying and not always do well, and to be generous in our praise of others. Beloved, how shy our hearts can be when we most need courage! We know what a gift it is to join with others and answer some problem or plan together what we need to do that is needful and good, so grant us the courage we need to connect and make hope real. We know what a gift it is to have supportive and loving community, so grant us the courage to be part of what we so value ourselves, trustworthy and loving, steadfast and present. Beloved, our hearts can be shy when we most need courage. Yet when we are afraid we may pause and remember your loving presence, and go onward, a little steadier and with more courageous hearts.
