Mercy of Mercies as we strive to make love, hope, peace, justice, and compassion real, keep us steady in the long labors, steady through the failures and set-backs, steady through the trying without apparent progress, steady in fulfilling our faithful promises. Mercy of Mercies we are called to strive, to do our best, to trust that the something we can do joins the somethings that others can do and makes a real difference. Let us remember the stars, shining forth, light reaching us after millions of years, not even visible to us except in the night, and yet radiating, illuminating, because that is what they do, what they are, how they are called. May we be like the stars, numerous, striving generously and steadfastly, to carry on with love and hope and compassion in making a better world, illuminating the way for years and years into the future. Amen.
