Love shower us with sparkles of wonderment and bright drops of hope that make us cease in our simmering hurting, stop surprised out of our resentment and our troubles, balk before one more bitter word sprays acid into the world. Love bring us to a screeching halt from our destructive selfishness and brooding and haul us up, set us back on our heels and our hearts with sudden wows that open our hearts once again in joy. Returned to the center, awoken by Love, may we make different choices. May we turn off the pot of anger and get busy with a pot of generosity, helping a neighbor, finding a stranger, feeding someone who needs a good meal, including ourselves in the hope that happens in every day. May we turn aside from our headlong tantrum and hatred and put that energy into cleaning up trash and tilling community gardens and spending time trading stories and laughing with someone who's been terribly lonely. May we cool our mouths with sweet water and set down the bitter words and seek instead something to praise, something generous to offer, something to sweeten the world and bear healing instead. Returned to the center, awoken by Love, may we make different choices than the often too-easy ones of hurting, resenting, making trouble, and burning the world in words and in deeds. Instead, let us dance with the wonderment of being and make a cup to share kindness wherever we go. Amen.
