Lover of Life, let me thank you for the gift of practicing compassion. You know how much I have resisted, how often my heart has been closed to the daily business of loving and living. Thank you for the faithful promises that stretched me out of my comfort zone and asked more of me than I thought possible to give. This practice of compassion has given me a great gift, softened my edges, taught me the joy of generosity in all ways of living. Thank you for the gift of a community expecting and holding me accountable when I turned away from my promises. Thank for the blessing of a practice that reopens and nurtures my heart, and shows me just how lovely the world really can be, even while hurting, even while waiting, even while fighting for dignity and equality, even while cleaning up the desecrated land, all the while we have, compassion changing and blessing this life. Mercy's many forms are blessings indeed. Amen.
