Beloved, sometimes we feel stuck, moving so slowly that decades may pass before we shift position by a few grains eroded from our being. Lichens can grow upon us, crusty and dry, flaking away our courage, our hope, our sense of enduring. Beloved, sometimes we feel really stuck, hearts hardening, the juiciness of life drained away. Help us then, with the kindness of friends and of strangers, with surprising joy that shifts us out of the ordinary into wonder once again, with tears of laughter that melt away the gates on our hearts and show us the way back to this life's adventure, this life's vibrancy and goodness, this life's blessings that are part of our creating, our nurturing, our sharing, our daring in each and every day. Help us then, Beloved, when we are stuck and may we have the joy and courage to help friends and strangers we meet who are themselves in a dry place, a stuck place, lichens growing upon them, courage and love and mercy flaking away. Sustain us in nurturing one another, in risking sharing and caring and creating new blessings each day, together. Amen.
