Lover of Life, help us tend our roots well, the communities in which we live, the cultures to which we belong, the life that set us forth and the spiritual ground that nourishes us day by day. Without these strong roots, without healthy vibrant communities, without knowing who and whose we are, without tending night and day what our hearts and spirits need, we falter, shatter, or wither away. Lover of Life, help us appreciate these roots that hold us and nourish us, this ground of being that sends us forth to be fruitful and share the gifts we have to give, to learn how to be good citizens of this earth, to love more boldly than seems prudent or easy, to be profligate with kindness and mercy and steadfastly compassionate. For these roots, for this ground of being that sends us forth, may we give thanks, and sing praises. Amen.
