Mercy of Mercies may we rest in beauty, in wonderment, in the blessings we receive and the ones we impart. May we find ourselves caught up like leaves eddying in the wind, whirling and rustling for a few moments in the joy of being. Mercy of Mercies may we give ourselves and each other not only permission to rest, but gladness in that resting and gratitude for it and for the loving care of the gift of true rest. Mercy of Mercies may we know the kind of rest that is possible only after hard work and steadfast efforts to fulfill our faithful promises and risk well to keep them. May that rest recharge and renew up, grant us fresh dreams and visions that inspire us again to the steady labors for merciful justice, for ecological restoration, for a world vibrant in equity, compassion, love, generosity, and creativity for goodness' sake. Mercy of Mercies, may we rest well and accept that blessing, before we turn once again from wonderment to what needs our attention, our gifts, our efforts, our labors together. Amen.
