Lover of Life I rejoice in all my senses. They call me back to attention, turn me to what matters, and connect me to others. What a gift, so much part of me, they are easy to ignore, to forget, to take for granted! I rejoice in the ways my senses inform me of what is sweet and joyful and what is foul and needing remediation. I rejoice in all my senses. I rejoice in the ways a few scents like those of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice conjure comfort and holidays and the best of hours of friendship for me. I rejoice in the sensation of forward movement when leaning into a hug, a fragrant flower, over a magnifying lens, or rolling over uneven and rocky ground with the wind sharp and clear in my face. I rejoice in all my senses. I rejoice in the flavors of shared meals and in the crunch and sweetness and tingling fizz of an apple new from the tree, in the ways all my senses are part of what nourishes and also inform me of what depletes and saddens and draws me away from what is good and wonderful. I rejoice in all my senses, for they gift the world, call me to what is needful and what is joyful, and connect me to the whole. Tonight, I am especially thankful for these gifts. Amen.
