How marvelous the mystery that we hold the life we love by living in the present, not by trying to cage, accumulate, or capture that love, where it slips away because of any bonds! How marvelous that mystery that what we best hold is now. May we treasure it, rejoice in it, share it, render it worthy of gladness. Lover of Life, how easy it is to disregard the gift of this life, to squander it in squabbles that squelch hope and create suffering. How easy it is to be caught up in fear and anger and sorrow, in the stories we live that turn us and others away from generosity, away from wisdom, away from loving boldly and steadfastly, away from doing what we can to make this world gladder, kinder, enough for all. Lover of Life wake us to the present of this day, to what we can do to aid and abet graciousness, hospitality, merciful justice, and hope today and every day, living in the now, knowing well the past, and making a past for the future that others will hold with gratitude and joy. Amen.
