Night after night you bless us, Beloved, with the darkness wrapping close and comforting around us. All the harsh separation and distinctions of day dissolve and in the quiet of the night we may more easily attend you and the blessings all around us. Night after night, Beloved, wrap others close and comfort them, bring us closer to each other to bear one another up and on through what is harsh and unloving and lonely and painful. Let us together dissolve the separations and distinctions that keep us apart, that keep us from living whole heartedly, from risking faithfully to make amends and to forgive, to care and to be tender, to question our hardened hearts and soften them, making welcome and being generous to those we could not find it in our hearts greet. Night after night, Beloved, may we bless one another as the darkness blesses us, holding us, enfolding us all, without separation and distinction, cradling us and reminding us of all we share, of hopes and dreams and tenderness that can bring us together into new understanding and new ways to bless one another and this world, waking and sleeping, whatever season, whatever hour, wherever we find we are. Amen.
