Wisdom in each every day you invite us to the small things that matter greatly, the deeds done day after day and season after season, the challenges met and kindnesses offered and love shared and hope steadied -- all that needs doing. Whether or not we find ourselves contending with great things, still we have these daily efforts, these relationships to tend, these communities to which we belong, these ways we are tested and strengthened and called. Together what we do matters. We may feel small and discarded, like the acorn cap from the acorn planted or eaten, and yet we still matter, we still belong, we still have gifts to give. With a little imagination that discarded cap becomes a fairy plate, or the shingle on a squirrel's cottage, or joins a greater pile of matter to restore the earth and nourish future trees. With imagination how shall we answer this day? Wisdom give us the faithful imagination to not allow ourselves to be discarded or set aside, but to be wholly part of this life with the love we can share, with the kindness we can offer, with generous hearts and generous words and generous deeds rendering this world more blessed and brighter than before. Amen.
