Beloved, may we gather together in awe of luminous wonders, stilled into reverent silence by the night and the night sky. In the silence, underneath this starry firmament, illuminated by the reflection of our sun by the mirror of the moon and by the radiance of billions of other suns, may we gather together and take each other's hearts in our hands with reverent care. Here, too, is another bit of stardust, another mundane miracle of being. Beloved, may we live in awe of such luminous wonders, in the fact of being, in the fact of each of has having gifts to give and differences to teach and spice and share this life. May this move us to reverent silence regularly, habitually, rather than harsh fear or virulent denial or corrosive brutality. Instead, may we choose a way of hope and dignity and merciful justice and love. May we choose to rehabilitate each other after horrible failure, to repent and make amends, to forgive and practice the hard labors of reconciliation, rather than continue to strip one another of rights, of our place here in this world, of full citizenship to create a world of love and peace. Beloved, may we choose the way where we discuss with one another what is needful and good, and we listen deeply and we allow ourselves to change and to come to new understandings, and we bear only love and not ill will or suspicion toward one another. May we choose to determine a world made more gracious and generous and whole over a world of greed and fear and a tiny number of winners and a great number of losers. Beloved, gather us together once again in awe of luminous wonders, all of us sharing this night and this earth and this universe through which we travel. May we together find what we can share that is good, summon up the wisdom we need and the commitment to care, and love more boldly than we ever have before. Amen.
