Keep us focused, Beloved, on the work of love before us. If we are to witness the rod of the oppressor broken, may we keep steadily at meeting oppression and transforming it by the power of love, expecting no less than dignity and equity and justice, and bearing up and on to achieve that. Keep us focused, Beloved, on the work of love before us. If we are challenged in loving our neighbor, may we keep steadily on finding reasons to cherish our neighbor, to meet them and to work together for a more gracious and peaceful world. Keep us focused, Beloved, on the work of love before us. If we find it easier to retreat into bickering and squabbles and pettiness and peevish wants, may we keep steadily turning round with our better selves to remembering and honoring what really matters, to caring more boldly and to be generous beyond measure until we find ourselves and those around us restored to good cheer and making waves of hope real in our communities. Keep us focused, Beloved, on the work of love before us. The work of love does not end, but is ever with us, calling us, needing our presence, our attention, our efforts, our changing, our dreaming, our daring, our hoping to be made real day by day, meeting the Love that abides and blesses. Amen.
