Beloved, though the winds of time move us here and there, though sometimes we can resist and other times we must go with the flow, let us not forget our hearts' true calling, the one that asks us each and every day to love boldly, to be compassionate courageously, to tend kindly this earth and all beings upon it. Let us not forget our hearts' true calling and the purpose for goodness each of us may bear, through the gifts we have, whether those are gifts of building or of baking, of caring for the sick and wounded or being a presence of peace, of speaking the truth in love or of weaving wonders to help us imagine ourselves to a better world. Whether our gifts are in welcoming strangers or in being the kind of stranger who surprises others into welcoming them, or of generous words and deeds in mean and cruel places or of nurturing hope where hope is hard to find, let us not forget our purpose for goodness' sake. Let us not forget the power of imperfect people imperfectly but wisely and courageously and lovingly insisting on change remaking one community after another, shifting nations and challenging all of us to be better than is easy. Beloved, let us not forget our hearts' true calling and our purposes for goodness noted by our differing gifts. May we cherish them and cherish each other, loving boldly, loving truly, loving beyond what seems possible today. Amen.
