Wonder of Wonders may we dwell responsibly in the beauty of the night, and though our care and attention render the night even more beautiful. For night or day we may do horrible things to each other and to this earth, but somehow, somewhere many of us came to associate horror with the night, rather than sanctify the night by adding our blessings. Wonder of Wonders may we sanctify the night and add the blessings we can to do, creating a wholeness that rests on love and compassion and not on fear and spite. Wonder of Wonders may we dwell responsibly in the beauty of the night, adding our songs and our dances and our stories to it, marveling at the stars and making our communities more secure in navigating the darkness not with the false promise of bright lights that blind and make it easier for fears to thrive, but with the soft lights of welcome and learning the comforts of the dark, the half-light, the dusk, the true night. Wonder of Wonders may we bless the night and find within it myriad blessings, offering to one another a different way than has been, but instead a way of peace and kindness and shared awe in the beauty and mystery of the night. Amen.
