Lover of Life you help us grow resilient, even through the long cold stretches we may have in our lives, under icy social conditions and in blazing controversy. When we dare to love vulnerably, we dare to love riskily. When we risk loving vulnerably daily, we find a new courage, a new breath, a new hope where we could not imagine finding anything but grief. Lover of Life, how surprising and joyful it is that steadily we grow tougher as we grow tenderer, resilient because of troubles. How else should we find our way through them, but with hope and a little playfulness like a bright blue flashing through the winter forest? What is resilience but finding compassion for this aching world, and ourselves in that world, doing what we can to ease suffering? Lover of Life, you help us meet what is and celebrate what is worth celebrating and comforting one another when we comfort is needing and finding more courage than we knew was possible. For this we are grateful and glad, and determined once again to dare to love vulnerably, courageously, hopefully in this and every day. Amen.
