Wisdom teach us the value of tenderheartedness, of caring so greatly we cannot turn away from one another when we are in need, and we find, night and day, the strength to love. Lead us away from the easy armor of hardheartedness, of buffering ourselves from the troubles of the world, of seeking false and temporary comforts that pretend to comfort but really keep us away from the comfort of caring, of doing something to help, of welcoming strangers, of sharing stories with those whose stories have been silenced. Wisdom help us keep and grow the courage and strength needed to love boldly, to create compassionate communities, to accept our innate need for each other and dependence upon one another and this earth. Lead us away from the easy dismissal of our fragility to knowing well the strength that may be born of such neediness, the strength of love and care that changes and challenges us to do more, to be more, to create more love and kindness than seems possible. Wisdom let us not turn away from sorrow and inequity and injustice and suffering just because they are difficult and painful. But lead us forward with courage and love and joy that together we can choose to be the difference our hearts, our hopes, and our world needs. Amen.
