Rejoice in the extraordinary ordinary of the day. O Beloved, how we may yearn to do so, and yet not know how to do it. There are unfinished lists and angry conversations and the simple effort to draw breath can be extraordinarily difficult at times. Draw us back, Beloved. Stop us with beauty through at least one of our senses. Stop us with beauty and hold us until the fluttering wings of our hearts quiet and we can breathe again and the anger dissipates and the lists can stay unfinished a while longer. Stop us with beauty that may rejoice in the extraordinary ordinary of the day, breathing in the blessing of being, remembering how we are part of such a blessing, how we already belong to it, remembering our whole selves. Draw us back, Beloved, to wonder and gladness and gratitude, to remembering that a moment may be full of holiness in the middle of a difficult day. Rejoice in the extraordinary ordinary of the day. O Beloved, how such blessings restore our hearts! Gladdened, refreshed, and whole-hearted again, we give thanks. Amen.
