Lover of Life, may we dwell in thankfulness all our nights and days: thankful for what may be and thankful for what has been, even though right now might be a bit of a struggle. And if right now is not such a struggle, may we be especially thankful for that. Help us change as we are challenged by persistent gratitude, challenged to find reasons for thankfulness in terrible times and challenged to number and stay awake to all we have to be grateful for in good times. Lover of Life, may we dwell in thankfulness all our nights and days: thankful for what we have to learn - even though, truth be told, we might rather not learn one more thing right now -- and thankful, too, for our capacity to learn. Help us savor this life, and what is good in it, what good we can create and what good we experience from others and from this planet. Everywhere, in every season, the seeds of gladness are present, if we choose cultivating them, if we choose turning away from destruction and defilement and instead choose dignity and generosity and gladness for life's diversity. Lover of Life, may we dwell in thankfulness all our nights and days, and may that gratitude lead us in all endeavors. Amen.
