Lover of Peace guide our hearts and guide our hands in making way and making refuge for all those who know hurt and grief and violence and betrayal and what it is, day after day, to be told they are less than nothing. For without refuge, without healing, how can we but spread our hurt, make other grieve, inflict more violence, betray and belittle? Lover of Peace welcome us and help us make way and welcome for one another in all our imperfection and injuries, all our questions, all our fearful maybes, our self-doubts and suspicion of others. Welcome us and help us make way and welcome for one another, learning to trust again, not in great soaring leaps at first, but over one meal and one story and one song at a time, working alongside each other in cultivating a place of peace and love. Lover of Peace welcome us and help us make way and welcome for one another, one thorny moment and bare root at a time, one bit of mud and one stone moved to where all those stones fitted together make long low benches and warm rocky spots to gather and bear warm witness at the end of the day. Lover of Peace welcome us and help us make way and welcome for one another, all of us strange and strangers, all of us knowing grief and hurt, all of needing a more loving and generous way. May we cultivate courage together the way we cultivate hope together and make that hope real in one act of compassion and one act of justice and one act of forgiveness at a time. Amen.
