Wisdom you teach us to care for the now in order to care for the future and care for the past. Belonging to now, because here we are, so many of us still yearn to or feel we belong to another time, a past or future real or imagined that claims to our hopes, pointing us back toward what it is we need to tend right here and now. Yearning for a more gracious time, may we cultivate generosity and kindness. Yearning for a safer time, may we add our efforts to the work of merciful justice, to making amends, and to forgiving. Yearning for a more respectful time, may we offer each other lives of dignity and compassion and make way and room for each person's gifts for goodness' sake. Yearning for a more loving time, may we learn to be vulnerable, to risk faithfully, to live whole-heartedly in each and every day. Wisdom you teach us to care for the now in order to care for the future and care for the past. May we remember that we belong right here, right now, because here we are, and that we have much we can do to tend this particular place. Amen.
