Each morning we wake, may we breathe in the sweet breath of hope and offer our heart, our dreams, and our deeds to the goodness needed in this world. Breath of Hope infuse us with the spirit of courage needed to confront what is wrong, the problems that are here and real, the one we have contributed to and the ones that are ours simply by breathing here and now upon this earth, the ones our neighbors contend with, and the ones that plague strangers, too. There is no true kindness without attending to the problems that are, the problems we can solve and the problems whose suffering we can ease. Breath of Hope, open the doors and gates that keep us apart, heads down, avoiding the problems that are part of life, that our gifts may be part of bringing an end to evil, comforting those in need of comfort, and making way and welcome for what is mercifully just and courageously generous. It may be easier to go along, to shutter off ourselves from what the troubles happening. But we are not called to the easier way. Hope give us courage, enough bravery, for what we need to contend with today, that we may reach for and practice the true and vibrant kindness of caring well for this earth and one another. Amen.
