Prayer for the Week of October 3, 2022 - A Prayer for Farmworkers

Wisdom, may we take time to thank those who plant, grow, care for, harvest, and nurture the food we eat, the farmworkers who may not be owners of the land they work, who might be paid by the kilo or pound or day of harvest, who may move from place to place seasonally to nurture their own families. Wisdom, may we make a more just and equitable space for farmworkers, to ensure they can survive and thrive on the work they do, that they, too, can dream and build futures worth living, and nows full of joy and friends and family. Wisdom, may we protect those who work the fields and ranches, the orchards and vineyards, recognizing that their well-being is well-being for all, well-being for the earth, well-being for the future. Wisdom, may we realize how deeply interconnected we are with each bite we take, each meal we share, and may we bring justice for each and for all, to each and all a vine and fig tree, and a life joyful, worthy, and unafraid. Amen.
