A Prayer to Co-Create Time - Prayer for Week of July 3, 2023
From our first breath to our last, Beloved, we are time incarnate, co-creating time and our sense of it, of wasted time and tasted time and blessed time and cursed time and slow time and metered time and racing time. May we pause to breathe with You, Beloved, to notice the breeze tickling our arms or legs or eyebrows raised to the sky. May we go ahead and make mistakes because doing and knowing emerge iteration after iteration, slow struggles of what not to do and rapid insights of what to playful try next. Beloved, may we be blessed with playfulness and bless others with the same, a spaciousness to imagine and to try, to dream and to co-create, to connect to traditions and to reconstruct and sing into being traditions for tomorrow. Knowing we are time incarnate may we rest often, deeply, well, and grant each other rest and respite from demands, from extraction, from expectations that batter us into someone we only recognize like we might a nighttime shadow and about as tangible. From our first breath to our last, Beloved, may we remember regularly we are time incarnate and honor each other with that remembering and knowing, respecting each other in our possibilities for blessing and for goodness and for mediocrity and for pleasure and for dreaming and for working together to co-create a world in which we can all thrive and generate joy for ourselves, for each other, for this life. Amen.
